Senior Transport Planner / Engineer

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Transport Planner / Engineerto join our growing team.

Working within our Development Planning team you would be assessing the transport implications and devising solutions for a wide range of development projects, and supporting our clients to promote schemes through the planning system and beyond to implementation. All AWP engineers and transport planners are encouraged and assisted to progress their training towards ICE/CIHT/TPP (or equivalent) professional qualifications, with internal and external training opportunities being provided.
 
Role

The varied role will focus on the Transport Assessment process for a variety of development projects across many sectors including residential, commercial, industrial and leisure. This would include providing initial access advice, undertaking accessibility assessments, conducting traffic impact analysis/junction modelling, defining mitigation strategies, devising Travel Plans and preparing technical reports/drawings in connection with Local Plan representations, planning applications and planning appeals. You can expect to be working on a number of projects at any given time and to take on project management responsibilities in line with experience.  In your role, you will work closely with colleagues in our Flood Risk and Development Infrastructure teams to develop deliverable scheme masterplans.

You will report to, and be supported by, two of our management team who are both Chartered Civil Engineers specialising in transport planning and highway engineering.

Requirements

Education to degree level in Civil Engineering, Geography (or other related discipline) and ideally around 4 or 5 years' consultancy experience specialising in the field of transport planning/engineering.

You will need to have excellent written and spoken communication skills, and an ability to present technical arguments in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences including clients, local authority officers and members of the public.

A good working knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS software and junction modelling programs (PICADY, ARCADY, LINSIG) is required, although training will be provided to fill any gaps in your current skill set. You will need to be able to work as part of a close-knit team, demonstrate a passion for the field of work and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
