AWP Birthday Event 2021

21/10/21

Last week AWP marked its 9th Birthday with a get together out in the Devon countryside. This year’s event was very different from 2020 which fell during the Autumn lockdown and so had to be held online - where has the time gone?

Reunited as a whole group for only the second time since the pandemic began, AWP donned their wellies and ventured into the wilderness of Ashcombe Adventure centre for an afternoon of archery and team building puzzles. It was a chance to see colleagues in person, especially those who wouldn't ordinarily work together in the office at the same time.

The team puzzles included something for everyone; from memory puzzles to building bridges to cross treacherous (knee deep) water. An afternoon of laughs was had all round and was followed swiftly by a warming pasty and chips.

The arrow of the day definitely came from Chris who managed to not only burst the final balloon on his team's target, but he then proceeded to pop the opposing team's balloon too.

We rounded off the afternoon with our annual Values Awards which celebrate staff members who have most consistently displayed the AWP Values over the last year.

The winners were:

Trust –  Matt Spurling

Value for Money – Jayesh Elson

Sharing – Tom Richards

Informed – Chris Yalden

Delivering Quality Services – Jon Goldsworthy

Mutually Respectful – Ralph Morris

Next year AWP will be celebrating 10 years - watch this space!
