Every year we hold a Values Award ceremony to appreciate our staff members who have really showcased the AWP company values. Congratulations to everyone that won an award, AWP team as a whole have done a fantastic job at consistent, efficient and smart working during our busiest period yet!

Josh is a well-respected, conscientious and dependable member of the team who can always be trusted to give genuine and honest feedback. His open and transparent communication style helps to strengthen relationships and build trust across the AWP team. Always willing to support others, offering their time and perspective whenever it’s needed. Their integrity, reliability, and supportive nature make them a true role model for the value of trust.
Josh’s contribution to the business has made a meaningful impact, and we’re excited to see how they continue to grow and inspire those around them.
Sustainable Environment – Ben Fenton
Ben’s passion for ESG (Environmental Social Governance) is admirable, leading AWP on sustainability initiatives with dedication and excellence. His commitment to creating a positive environmental impact sets a high standard and inspires others to prioritise sustainability in the workplace.
Ben actively encourages improvements and challenges the status quo, also leading by example in their day-to-day life, with small, often unnoticed actions, such as turning off lights in empty meeting rooms, as well as frequently cycling into the office.
The ESG focus group has made great strides this past year. Whilst it has been a team effort with Ceri also playing a vital role, Ben in particular has had a massive impact pulling together our new Environmental Management System.
Mutually Respectful – Sophie Ridley
Sophie has been nominated as a great addition to their team, and AWP as a whole. She is always respectful to those in need of help, approachable to assist with any requests, and picking up new tasks and activities very quickly.
Sophie has consistently delivered high-quality work (including assisting senior staff with the delivery of a complex project for a key client on a very tight deadline) and applied themselves fully to every task. Their versatility and consistent delivery & reliability make them an invaluable member of the AWP team.
One nomination said this person is a huge asset to the company, and I would really struggle without them.
Sharing – Jack Taylor
Jack has been nominated for always being willing to share their knowledge with others in their team.
He is a valued member of the AWP apprentice academy team, going out of his way to assist with mentoring and enhancing procedures to assist the apprentice journeys.
Jack takes great pride in their own work and set a good example to others, working hard to complete tasks efficiently and to the best of their ability. He is also great at guiding others to complete tasks and ensure drawings are completed to a high standard.
Informed – Richard Leevers
Richard received more nominations for the award than any other person for any of the other categories.
Richard is very proactive, staying one step ahead to always be informed of ever updating changes to standards and diligently keeps our design tools to the highest revision to help us maintain our competitive edge. This year he also headed up the review of the new EA data and National SuDS Standards which has been incredibly helpful for AWP, as well as to our clients.
Always a calm and measured approach when providing assistance, Richard is able to digest and understand complicated design processes quickly. He is an expert on the fiddly bits that others don’t want to get involved with, but as well as being informed Richard is generous with his knowledge and is always willing to be interrupted when someone has a problem. A reliable go-to person, he is an invaluable member of Team Flood Risk and the business overall.
Value for Money – Joe Graham
Over the past year, Joe has stood out to as someone that embodies the company value of Value for Money through his focused approach and growing expertise in delivering high-quality design work.
Joe has risen to the challenge, demonstrating increased confidence and taking greater ownership of critical project activities. His commitment to producing clear and concise deliverables more independently as a designer has contributed towards an increased value for our clients.
Joe’s personal development over the past year has been very impressive, and the contributions continue to add real value to both our projects and the wider business.
Always friendly throughout the office and gets stuck into any task, this person consistently treats others with kindness and professionalism fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
Delivering Quality Services – Chris Yalden
Another award with a stack of nominations from all corners of the business for the same person made this one a quick decision. Chris manages to balance a great variety of jobs at any one time, plus other responsibilities at AWP, and work won’t ever go out half baked.
He always provides quality advice to clients whilst being mindful of their financial constraints, as well as helping with training and sharing knowledge within their team and the business as a whole.
It is always super impressive how he deals with the significant pressure and responsibility of their role, every client and colleague knows that this person can pull it out of the bag if no-one else seems able!
Star of the Year – Millie Hunt
Millie earned the Star of the Year Award because she has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment to our values and culture. Throughout the year, she was one of our most frequent nominators, and also the most nominated person —showing how widely her impact is felt across the team!
Her nominations highlighted a broad range of strengths, consistently reflecting our company values through her reliability, integrity, efficiency, and professionalism.
