B Lab, the global nonprofit behind Certified B Corporations

We are proud to be a Certified B CorporationTM

Why B Corp?

‘B Corps’ are certified against the B Lab Standards, a globally recognised framework that assesses a company across verified social, environmental, and governance standards. We decided to seek certification as we felt that the AWP values aligned with B Corp™ and were keen to join a global community of likeminded businesses.

Our journey with B Corp officially began with our certification in April 2026, which verified that AWP meets the B Lab standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability, through the globally recognised B Impact Assessment. Learn more at bcorp.com.

AWP's Score

Based on the B Impact assessment, AWP earned an overall score of 82.1, with the median score for ordinary businesses who complete the assessment currently being 50.9. For more information about our B Impact Score and what it represents, visit B Lab’s website.

At AWP, we’ve always believed that successful development should create positive outcomes for people, places and the environment. Becoming a Certified B Corporation™ reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality engineering and planning solutions while operating responsibly, supporting our team, and contributing positively to the communities we work in.

Environmental Sustainability

Becoming a certified B CorpTM represents a commitment to continuous improvement. Our B Corp™ certification reflects the holistic sustainable practices embedded in AWP and whilst this encompasses more than only environmental sustainability, this is the area that the B Impact Assessment has shown we can improve upon most.

Continuous Improvement – Office Practices

The last couple of years, we have undertaken various internal studies and reviews of environmental sustainability, covering global, national, regional, and industry best practices in relation to our office practices. This has included:

Continuous Improvement – The Built Environment

Working as we do in the built environment, we are aware of the impact that our sector has and are therefore seeking to implement more sustainable practices in our engineering decision-making, believing that a good understanding and means of quantifying embodied carbon in design is the first and most important step in making this happen.

Several staff have attended PAS 2080 training and are seeking to create internal resources to calculate embodied carbon in our engineering designs in the future.
