Tom Richards
Senior Technician
My work with AWP is based in the Drainage and Flood Risk Planning Team where I prepare technical information to support planning applications. I completed my HNC and NVQ in 2018, and successfully gained my EngTech professional qualification with the ICE in 2022.
On the day to day I support Chris, James and Letisha with Causeway Flow, Site 3D and Autocad, producing drainage strategy drawings and other supporting documents for our FRAs.
Prior to working for the Drainage team, I spent time in the Transport Planning department where I leant much in terms of junction design, road traffic data analysis and infrastructure construction.
My interests outside of work include cycling, kayaking, and walking. I also play a strange sport called Octopush (underwater hockey) which has enabled me to play in tournaments across the UK and in Holland.
I come from a long line of engineers; my father working in telecoms and grandfather and great grandfather working as rail and aerospace engineers. They instilled love of engineering and design ever since I was very young.
