April 2015 - Election Special
01/04/15
The one thing all of the major parties seem to be agreed upon is the need to build an awful lot more houses. And in the absence of any detail as to how that might actually happen, we're doing our best to help. Since setting up AWP in 2012, we've worked on the planning or infrastructure design of over 25,000 new houses. We thought we’d reflect this month on how work is progressing on a number of these sites.
Our very first commission, Porthpean Road in St Austell, is making excellent progress on site as can be seen from the photo above. In Tiverton, the redevelopment of the former Belmont Hospital site is also well on the way to completion and we are pleased to see that our client Devonshire Homes has been shortlisted in the South West region LABC Building Excellence Awards for this site. And demolition of the old pavilion at Exeter Cricket Club is also underway to create space for the new 159 room student accommodation block which will be ready to welcome its new students in 2016.
Planning permission was recently granted for a residential development of 25 dwellings at Churchtown, Saltash. We undertook a FRA, TA and preliminary highway design for The Antony Estate, working closely with project architects ADG and planning consultant JHP.
It’s been a while since the last time we reported on one of our social events. We recently spent an evening at the Exeter Quay Climbing Centre - here’s a short video of the evening.
