"It has been fantastic to see how employers of all sizes have gone above and beyond to ensure apprentices can continue their studies during this unprecedented time. The week is also an opportunity to shine a light on how apprentices of all ages and backgrounds are helping to transform businesses across the country."

Dr Bike session at AWP

25/04/23

As part of the AWP Ada House Travel Plan, all staff were invited to bring their bikes in for a 30-minute safety check-up and service.

The session was part of the Dr Bike service from Ride On, a local Exeter-based charity and social enterprise. The bike mechanic completed a safety check of each bike, making small adjustments where necessary. This included looking at gears, brakes, wheels, and tyres. It was impressive to see the bike mechanic bringing all the required bike tools in a pedal-powered cargo bike, including the bike stand!

We had an excellent turnout, with the Ride On mechanic looking at around 10 bikes, with great feedback from staff. We hope this Dr Bike session has enabled staff to start cycling, or encouraged staff to cycle more, knowing that their bike has been checked over by a mechanic.
