We were appointed to undertake transport and drainage planning support for this 224 bed student accommodation scheme on Exeter University Campus as part of a team including Stride Treglown and Bell Cornwell.
The scheme involved significant pre application consultation and assessment of options with the need to deliver access down a relatively narrow street for both operations and construction being considered in great detail.
A lengthy post application consultation followed with local resident’s investigation in further detail the anticipated traffic levels and undertaking traffic surveys of existing student residents building along with a road safety audit of the access proposals.
Whilst local residents remained concerned with the impacts of the scheme the local highway authority offered no objection and Exeter City Council granted planning permission.
Further work to assess construction stage risks will now be progressed alongside a contractor.
