"Rob, Chris, many thanks for undertaking the drainage design in such a short time frame with next to zero notice. Your input and knowledge has been very helpful and your discussions with DCC and the EA certainly enabled us to start construction works promptly to ensure we can meet our customer promises for this summer."

2023 Q3 Charity Donations

05/10/23

As part of Q3 2023 charity donations, Team Graham have chosen to support five charities relevant to various team members - FORCE, Baby Bank Exeter, Tommy's,  Lighthouse Club and Trevi. The donations have been supplemented by team events across the quarter:

Team Graham chose to take part in FORCE Cream Teas for Cancer again this year, where every member of staff received a cream tea in a bag delivered fresh to the office. This is always a hit with Team AWP and is a lovely way to support a local charity, whilst enjoying a sweet treat.

Team member Matt and his partner Emily welcomed a baby boy into the world in July, and to celebrate, Team Graham ran a sweepstake to raise funds for Baby Bank Exeter and Tommy's. With over twenty entrants and a variety of dates/weights, the sweepstake was a hit and everyone was eager to hear news of the birth. Baby Harrison arrived safe and sound mid-July and Daisy Atkin guessed his exact weight – making her the winner! Daisy kindly donated her winnings back to the pot, which with the additional donation from Team Graham, made the fundraising for these two charities even more successful.

September is National Suicide Awareness month and with the heartbreaking statistic that on average two construction workers take their own life every day, Team Graham has chosen to donate to The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity. AWP are liaising with the charity to arrange a talk with members of staff on what the charity do and how we can help.

On 15th October, five ladies from the AWP team will be taking part in Trevi’s Warrior Women Walk. The event will involve a 10km walk around Burrator Reservoir, whilst connecting with friends and other amazing women along the way. Annabel, Daisy, Fleur, Letisha and Millie will be braving Dartmoor weather in order to take part and have been fundraising to support the charity. Team Graham chose to donate to this fundraising, with the total raised by the walkers currently at over £400!

Here’s a brief overview of the above charities:

FORCE (Friends of the Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre, Exeter) aims to continue improving the quality of treatment and care for cancer patients and their loved ones within the Exeter area. FORCE provides funding for cancer research, runs support programmes for cancer patients and loved ones and supports healthcare professionals involved in cancer care.

Baby Bank Exeter supplies necessary baby items to families in need. The charity works within a 30-mile radius of Exeter, collecting preloved and new supplies donated by members of the community and redistributing them free of charge to families. Their aim is to help alleviate child poverty and reduce parental stress, anxiety, and financial burden.

Tommy's is a charity that is dedicated to finding the causes and treatment to save babies’ lives, whilst also providing support to families that have lost a baby or need additional support during pregnancy. Tommy’s fund vital research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, with the aim to make the UK the safest place to give birth.

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity offer emotional, physical and financial support to the construction community and their families. They have a 24/7 helpline for those in need, complete toolbox talks on construction sites and provide space for people to access help however they can.

Trevi is a Plymouth based charity that provides support for women and children who have suffered from abuse and trauma. The charity runs various care centres across the city, with a focus on helping women and children remain together as a family.
