New Residential Development in Devizes Secures Planning Consent

13/10/23

We were pleased to see planning consent being awarded for a new residential development AWP has worked on for several years at Devizes in Wiltshire. Working on behalf of one of our long-standing clients, Square Bay Property, AWP were commissioned to undertake the Transport Statement, Flood Risk Assessment and Drainage Strategy to support the outline planning application for up to 59 dwellings on land to the west of Hillworth Road.

From our original commission in 2021, Alex, Chris and a series of colleagues provided technical advice and support through the masterplanning, pre-app, public consultation, and planning application stages of the project. The site presented a number of significant engineering challenges arising from the steep topography, necessitating a detailed consideration of site levels and cross sections at outline planning stage.

Having successfully secured agreement from the local Highway Authority and Lead Local Flood Authority, AWP were later asked to undertake a supporting role through the appeal process, working closely with Pearce Planning, following an initial refusal from Wiltshire Council for unrelated reasons. Following the Inspector’s Decision allowing the appeal, we look forward to the site coming forward for delivery in the very near future.
