Pride Month 2024

As June rolls around and we start to see the first hints of some summer weather (finally), at AWP we are also taking the opportunity to take part in Pride month.
As a very much inclusive employer, and with the support of our EDI focus group, we are proud to support and celebrate our LGBTQIA+ colleagues by fostering a safe and welcoming space for them to work and socialise all year round, and it seems only appropriate to celebrate this during Pride month.
We held our annual Rainbow Lunch on Wednesday 26th June, with colleagues bringing in food to share with everyone in the office. Each team was given a colour to wear, with prizes handed out for the best dressed individual and best dressed team. Whilst the lunch gives us the opportunity to relax and spend time with colleagues, it also provides a platform to educate and discuss issues which still affect the LGBTQIA+ community both locally and worldwide.
We are pleased to once again be supporting Proud2Be through donations taken during our Rainbow Lunch. Proud2Be is a grassroots social enterprise that exists to support and enable LGBTQIA+ people in Devon (and beyond) to thrive, be free, safe and proud to be themselves; and to work with others to acknowledge and help dismantle systemic oppression.
