"The Poole Park Road project has many place-making challenges. AWP has provided excellent and pragmatic transport advice in support of the regeneration of the existing estate and as a result has made a big contribution towards enabling the design of a great place for residents to live in in the future."

Building Greater Exeter Event

13/07/23

AWP are a partner organisation of ‘Building Greater Exeter’ (BGE), whose mission is;

‘to inspire new candidates, support employers and promote a culture that makes the built environment a great place to work across Exeter, East Devon, and Teignbridge’

Over the course of a week, BGE hosted a series of events to engage both partners and new audiences in sharing ideas and discussing the future of greater Exeter’s built environment.

During the BGE events week, one of our Graduate Engineers, Ben Fenton helped out with an online webinar on Wednesday 5th July. Ben was part of a panel with Thomas Jupp from Vistry, and individuals from different teams at Exeter City council. Ben helped to provide the perspective of a recent Exeter graduate working in the built environment, how he came to choose the sector and how employment differed from expectation.  A recording of the webinar can be found here.

The following day, BGE hosted a Partners & Networking event at the South West Institute of Technology at the Exeter University campus, which Ben also attended. Here, guest speakers from Exeter City council spoke about their vision for Exeter’s built environment and there were opportunities for meetings between different companies and organisations working in the greater Exeter area.

Pictured alongside Ben is Jonny Gurr, Impact and Partnership Development Officer at the University of Exeter, who Ben knew back when he was a Student Ambassador and Jonny was the Student Recruitment Team Manager!
