Planning Permission in Yorkshire
20/12/17
It's not often we're asked to help out with schemes this far from home, but when long standing AWP friends Alder King Planning Consultants asked us to assist with a tricky site in Yorkshire, we were pleased to help.
The proposed Battery Energy Storage facility at Drax is being promoted by Green Hedge Energy and will be used to store peaks in energy output generated by local renewable sources including the neighbouring Rusholme Wind Farm. The facility, which is defined as critical infrastructure in the NPPF, is located on the extensive floodplain of the River Ouse. We were called in to liaise with the local Environment Agency office and prepare a design and specification for a flood defence bund around the site. We provided the engineering details the EA were looking for to enable the Local Planning Authority to grant planning permission.
