Project Update: Hoe Lane, North Baddesley - Approved at Committee

24/06/21

AWP were appointed by The Ashfield Partnership, including a consortium of regional house-builders, to provide highway and drainage support for a new residential community of 300 homes just over a mile to the south east of North Baddesley in Hampshire.

We are pleased to report that Test Valley Borough Council’s June Planning Committee approved four Reserved Matters submissions for the scheme, with very positive councillor feedback on placemaking and the development presence. Our involvement in the scheme started back in 2018 shortly after the outline planning approval, and since then we have supported each housebuilder (C. G. Fry & Son Ltd, Morrish Homes and Wyatt Homes) to develop their individual detailed layouts, providing highway and drainage design services that supported high quality placemaking. In particular, the highways strategy for the development aimed to challenge convention that often prioritised car movement and instead creates an environment that encourages slower driving speeds and the take up of sustainable travel.

Next Dan’s team will be providing highways and drainage support for the Section 38 and 104 applications as well as the private external works design and we can’t wait to assist the Ashfield Partnership prepare for a site start next year.
