After a competitive tendering process, we were appointed by Petroc College to undertake a Flood Risk Assessment and Transport Statement to support a planning application for the new Engineering and Construction Skills Centre on the Tiverton campus.

Working closely with our client and a project team including Atkins (Architect) and Faithful+Gould (Project Manager), we provided engineering input into the design of the new teaching block on a site that is within the high risk flood zone. We initially scoped out the flood risks with the Environment Agency and then incorporated flood mitigation proposals into the developing design. We managed to secure technical approvals from both the Environment Agency and Devon County Council and helped obtain detailed planning permission for this development. It is good to see the construction of this building progressing well at the moment.

Building on this relationship, we were subsequently appointed to undertake the engineering works to support two further planning applications for a new kitchen and cafe / teaching space on the Tiverton campus and new Lifestyle and Engineering Centres on the Barnstaple campus.
