"AWP always responded to our requests and understood the sensitivities of working within the school environment highlighting to us potential pitfalls that we would not have spotted. The design and end result is first class and the school community have been very appreciative of the improvement we have been able to make with AWP’s help."

Seaton Beach wins two International Property Awards

13/01/20

Seaton Beach, a seafront development of eight luxury apartments, built to Passivhaus standards, was recently chosen as the ‘Best Sustainable Residential Development in the UK’ in the International Property Awards. The penthouse also won 'Best Apartment, Devon' at the same awards ceremony.

We undertook the FRA to help secure full planning permission back in 2017. The site, and all of the surrounding area, is located in the high risk flood zone. Therefore, as part of our FRA, we assessed the impact of the 1 in 200 year return period wave overtopping the existing coastal flood defence for the 100 year design life of the residential apartments. The predicted impact of climate change along the Devon coast over the next 100 years has sea levels rising by over 1.1m. As a result, many existing flood defences will no longer provide adequate protection.

We were able to demonstrate to the Environment Agency, and ultimately East Devon District Council as the local planning authority, that the development will be safe from flooding throughout its design life and will improve the position from the current scenario.

We think the development looks fantastic.
