Summer 2017 team building

01/08/17

We had planned a glorious summer's day of outdoor team building activities followed by a BBQ in the beautiful grounds of Escot House.  The British weather however had other thoughts as the day was slightly more soggy than we had planned and the BBQ was inside...we still had fun though!

Masterminded and led by our Team Building expert Paul Mattin of Wilderness Solutions we worked in 'department teams' for a treasure hunt around the grounds and then in 'leadership teams' for some puzzle solving games.

Winners of the treasure hunt were team 'Toblerone' made up of Rodin, Annabel, Jon and Jayesh.

Winners of the puzzle games were our Apprentices and Summer Interns (nicknamed the 'Next Next Generation' of leadership).

As a company we are keen to encourage leadership at all levels and this was certainly fulfilled on this day thanks to Paul and his effective if ever so slightly unusual challenges and games.  The training part of the day was finished off with a speed-dating feedback session where everyone was given 30 seconds each to encourage or constructively feedback to every member of the wider AWP team.  Although often pushing us out of our comfort zones, it was a worthwhile exercise to create a culture of honesty and openness in line with our AWP values.
