Working closely with architect LHC and client Yelverton Properties, we undertook a Flood Risk Assessment, Transport Assessment and a Utility Assessment to support the detailed planning application for a new cricket pavilion at the County Ground. In parallel we undertook a similar suite of services for a new student accommodation block to be built on the adjacent site of the former pavillion. In June 2014 both schemes were approved by Exeter City Council's planning committee.

We subsequently undertook the detailed design of the highway access, external works and drainage for the new pavilion as part of the Midas design and build team. Chris Yalden led our team working on this D&B contract.

The new pavillion was handed over to Exeter Cricket Club in advance of the 2016 season. Club Chairman Bob Price said: “Luckily for us we were sitting on a site that is ideal for student accommodation, which has enabled us to benefit from these fantastic new facilities and preserved the ground for future generations.

“The development is a perfect example of the benefits that the University brings to the City, because without the University and the spending power of the students our club would have folded. Now we feel we can go from strength to strength."
