Petroc College SLDD building

Tiverton

Following on from a number of successful projects for Petroc College, we were asked to undertake our normal suite of engineering work to support the planning application for a new single-storey café and kitchen building for the Tiverton campus. The scheme also comprised associated landscaping, drainage and engineering works.

The Tiverton campus is located on the flood plain of the River Exe and therefore we were required to undertake a site-specific Flood Risk Assessment. We developed a strategy to address the EA's concerns by raising the new building out of the flood plain and draining surface water runoff into a restored pond shown in the foreground of the photo above.

Working closely with project architects In Ex Design, we helped secure planning permission for the new buildings for students with learning difficulties and disabilities (SLDD), along with a new specialist learning space to enable development of innovation skills.

We were pleased to see the impressive new building completed in 2015 and be shortlisted for the 2016 Michelmores Property Awards in the "Project of the Year with a Value Under £2million" category.
