Uplyme Primary School

East Devon

We were appointed by The Bestic Trust to assist them with the design of a proposed new primary school in Uplyme, East Devon.

We worked closely with NetZero Buildings, a specialist designer of off-site manufactured educational buildings, to design the external works for a new two storey, single-form entry primary school which when complete will enable Mrs Ethelston’s CE Primary Academy to relocate from its current Victorian premises.

The proposed new school site is located close to a flood plain, so we worked closely with a specialist sub-consultant to model the flood zones and to demonstrate to the Environment Agency that the school would be safe in up to the 1 in 1,000 year flood. We also prepared preliminary designs for the highway access, the internal car park layout and servicing requirements and prepared a School Travel Plan.

East Devon District Council's Planning Committee unanimously approved the Reserved Matters Application for the new school in October 2020.
